Did you ever think you would be able to say you've been inside a nuclear power plant? Did you ever think you would be able to say you have stood feet away from years of radioactive waste? Well, now you can! Lucky members of MC IEEE were able to take a tour of the Indian Point Energy Center in Buchanan, New York. This may not seem like a huge deal, but it is considering Indian Point is not accessible to the general public. We're special like that. As fellow electrical and computer engineers we spend our days and nights studying POWER. With this once in a lifetime learning experience, members were able to get a first hand look at how nuclear power is generated, how nuclear waste is stored and just basically all the reasons why the lights in our houses turn on. Cool stuff!
Miss the tour? Stay tuned another tour may be available in the near future!
